Special Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Filtered Bridge | Due to Pilot Parker’s severe dust allergy, the bridge has a hospital-grade independent HEPA filtration system. It smells sterile compared to the rest of the ship. |
| Reinforced Landing Struts | After-market modification allowing the ship to land on unstable asteroid surfaces (class 3 density or higher). |
| Small Ships Locker | The bridge has a small safe that has 5 shotguns inside for self defense against bordings. |
Crew
| Role | Name | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Captain | Hara Jibril | Can be won over by a whiskey tasting set. Currently furious about loading delays. |
| First Mate | Jon Gower | Can’t stand big lights. Keeps the bridge lights at 50%. |
| Engineer | Clare Hammond | Has debt with the New Titania Shipyards. Often tries to sell “scrap” from the engine room to pay interest. |
| Medical Officer | Nikk Dekker | Plays the harmonica. The mournful tunes echo through the ventilation shafts during sleep cycles. |
| Pilot | Anna Chapman Parker | Allergy against Space dust. She flies exclusively by instrument, refusing to look out the “dirty” viewports. |
Cargo Hold
Current Manifest (Outbound from Beaven Point):
- Primary Cargo: 420 Tons of Raw Lucido Gemstones (Uncut). Secured in Flex-Bay 1.
- Secondary Cargo: 8 Large Crates marked “Geological Waste / Bio-Hazard.” (Actually contains OEG military encryption drives and contraband weaponry smuggled by Artem Rieman).
- Missing Items: 3 Crates of High-Grade Antibiotics and Stimpaks. (Stolen by Lennart Ziehm during loading; Captain Jibril refuses to launch until these are found).
Operational History
The Pro Fortuna is a workhorse of the Marayan fleet, but it has earned a reputation for “lucky scrapes.”
- 2498: While delivering terraforming equipment to the Western Sectors, the ship was interdicted by pirates. Lacking weapons, Captain Jibril vented the Flex-Bay atmosphere, ejecting a 10-ton turbine into the pursuing pirate skiff, destroying it instantly.
- 2501: The ship was contracted by Al-Rabata specifically for the Lucido run. It is one of the few freighters robust enough to land directly on the larger asteroids in the Lucido Belt to perform “hot pickups” of gems, bypassing the need for shuttles.
- Current Status: The ship has been delayed at Docking Bay 7 for 48 hours. The crew is restless, and the Captain is in a standoff with the Dock Foreman.
Typical Missions
| Mission Type | Description |
|---|---|
| The “Gem Run” | A high-stress, high-value run transporting raw gems from Beaven Point to the processing worlds in the Albion Sector. Pirate risk is extreme. |
| Asteroid Hop | Moving heavy mining drills and life-support scrubbers between the scattered mining camps of the Lucido Belt. |
Story Hooks
- The Missing Meds: Captain Jibril hires the PCs to find her missing medical crates (stolen by Lennart Ziehm). She offers free passage out of the system or a crate of “off-manifest” mining explosives as a reward.
- The Debt Collector: A bounty hunter arrives at the station looking for Clare Hammond (Engineer). Clare begs the PCs to hide her or help her falsify her death, claiming the debt is actually a cover for something she saw at New Titania.
- The Bio-Waste Leak: One of the “Bio-Waste” containers in the hold (planted by the OEG) begins to leak a signal rather than radiation. First Mate Jon Gower notices the frequency interference on his dark bridge and thinks the ship is haunted, asking spiritual PC characters for help.
Additional Details
- Vibe: The ship feels lived-in and slightly claustrophobic despite its size. The air always carries a faint melody of a harmonica.
- The Blue Stripe: The blue stripe on the bow is heavily pitted and scratched from asteroid debris, a badge of honor among the crew proving they do “real flying.”
- The Captain’s Chair: Jibril’s chair is an antique leather recliner she brought from home, bolted to the deck. It looks ridiculous next to the high-tech Kobashi flight consoles.
