Story
Origins: Following the chaos of the First Gate War (2318-2329), the Unified Planets realized that the insurrection of private militaries was fueled by a lack of oversight. Information was fragmented; colonies went months without contact, allowing pirate syndicates to fester in the dark. The Treaty of 2330 demanded a centralized, inviolable method of communication.
The GRC was formed in 2332 to solve the “Trust Problem”. Before GRC, interstellar trade was plagued by fraud—a merchant could spend the same credit on three different planets before the banks synchronized. The GRC started as a postal master ledger, a physical data core carried by armored ships that serves as the galaxy’s “Notary Public.”
During the Second Gate War, the GRC maintained a precarious neutrality, ferrying Red Cross data and prisoner lists across the Serengeti Line. While the UPoS is their primary patron, even the Confederacy of Terran Gates begrudgingly allows GRC “Packet Rats” into their space, as their own banking systems rely on the GRC’s cryptographic standards to function.
Philosophy
“Information knows no rules”
The GRC prides itself on absolute neutrality. They do not judge the payload. They deliver tax audits, love letters, and declarations of war with equal efficiency.
Relationships
| Faction | Relationship Type | Description |

| Unified Planets of Sol | State-Backer | The UPoS provides the legal framework and military protection for the GRC’s monopoly. |
| Confederacy of Terran Gates | Client | The Confederacy relies on GRC for banking syncs but distrusts them as UPoS spies. GRC ships are often boarded and scanned here. |
| Lanternyard Incorporated | Client | Lanternyard operates its own banking system in coordination with the GRC |
| Free People of Badigo | Hostile | The insurrectionists view GRC as a tool of UPoS propaganda and frequently shoot down “Packet Rat” drones to blind sectors. |
| Archivo Urkantone | Data Partner | The GRC provides free transport for the Institute’s massive xenological databases. |
