Operational History
The Xammep was Kobashi Shipyards’ direct response to the rising piracy in the Albion Sector following the Second Gate War. While Kobashi had previously focused on civilian logistics (like the Hozumi Freighter), CEO Akiko Kobashi saw a need to “empower the little guy” against unchecked aggression. The design philosophy was simple: a military-grade escort that could be maintained by a civilian-grade crew. The class saw its combat debut protecting Steelhead Mining Co. convoys from Imperial remnants near the Serengeti Line. Its performance caught the eye of SecCom, who appreciated the vessel’s low maintenance costs compared to heavier military surplus. SecCom subsequently purchased a fleet license, becoming the primary operator of the class outside of the UPN. The another recent deployment involves the SCS Contender, a Xammep currently assigned to the Lucido System. It serves as the primary enforcement vessel for the Lucido Mining Guild, proving the hull’s capability to operate in high-debris environments like the “Glintring” asteroid fields.
