| Class | Cruiser |
| Role | Research/General Purpose Vessel |
| Manufacturer | Lanternyard Nullcrafts |
| The Jericho is a large vessel made by Lanternyard to integrate into their Freightliner ecosystem. It’s primary role is to be a spacious space-going vessel with a flexible role-range. It is used by research organizations as a lab-platform, by planetary governments as a ferry or even as a freelance freighter by more wealthy privateers. While its hull lacks modularization, it is shipped essentially hollow, so that retailers can build their own interiors fit for the ship’s purpose. |

Operational History
The first production run was almost exclusively bought by the Danube Research Corporation to deploy deep-space listening posts. However, in 2445, a scandal erupted when a Jericho registered as a “Mobile Botanical Garden” was interdicted by UPoS customs, revealing the “hollow hull” had been retrofitted with illegal sentient-VI processing servers. This incident inadvertently served as excellent marketing for the hull’s versatility; orders from privateers and the Gray Exchange skyrocketed shortly after.
Typical Missions
| Mission Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Deep Sector Survey | Utilizing the large internal volume for sensitive sensor equipment and long-term crew habitation (labs, hydroponics). |
| Executive “Quiet” Transit | Transporting high-value corporate “assets” or VIPs who require luxury interiors hidden inside an unassuming hull. |
| Blockade Runner | The aerodynamic arrow shape allows for faster-than-average Jetgate transitions, making it ideal for smuggling. |
| Colonial Ferry | On the legitimate market, Jerichos are often bought by new colonies to serve as a singular, heavy-duty transport for hundreds of colonists and their initial infrastructure equipment. |
Story Hooks
- The Hollow Echo: The PCs find a drifting Jericho that appears fully intact. Upon boarding, they find the “hollow” interior has been converted into a single, massive, fleshy bio-reactor by an unknown entity. The crew is missing, but the ship’s VI, “Spectre,” is happily reporting that “Production is at 200% efficiency.”
- Repo Men: A “freelance entrepreneur” (smuggler) has defaulted on their Corporate Residency Contract and fled with a heavily modified Jericho. Lanternyard hires the party to repossess the ship. The catch? The ship is rigged with a “scorched earth” self-destruct mechanism that triggers if a Lanternyard biometric signature is detected onboard.
- The Trojan Gift: A rival corporation gifts a shiny, refurbished Jericho to a struggling UPoS colony the PCs are visiting. It’s a gesture of goodwill. In reality, the hollow spaces between the hull plating are filled with thousands of dormant “Hunter-Seeker” drones waiting for a signal to subjugate the settlement.
Additional Details
- Acoustics: Due to the “hollow” nature of the shipping configuration, Jerichos that are poorly retrofitted suffer from terrible echoing. A dropped wrench on the bridge can sometimes be heard in engineering if sound dampeners aren’t installed.
- Corporate Hierarchy: The default bridge OS comes pre-installed with “Lanternyard Personnel Management” software, which rigorously tracks bathroom breaks and efficiency metrics of the crew unless jailbroken, even if the ship is not used by Lanternyard Groups at all.
