Ship: FS-05 Prowler Scout Corvette
Class Overview
| Class | Corvette |

| Role | Scouting |

The FS-05 is a reconnaissance and command range multiplier. As a direct result of the modern state of the Unified Planets, a grand machine that is far, far too big to be seen in full at a single time. The current policy of the UPoS and UPN is to put up as many Forward Operating Bases as possible, mostly through mobile platforms such as the Maalik Carrier and Korbach Class Patrol Frigate.

Operational History
The FS-05 Prowler was commissioned by the Unified Planets Navy in the late 2420s, directly following the establishment of the Serengeti Line. The stalemate of the Second Gate War shifted UPN doctrine away from massive battle lines and toward rapid-response, mobile forces centered on platforms like the Maalik Squadron Carrier.
This new doctrine created an urgent need for a dedicated, long-range reconnaissance craft that could operate independently from the carrier group, acting as both its forward “eyes” and as a critical sensor and command relay. CoreArms Incorporated won the contract, delivering a craft that prized its advanced Lothion Fleet Systems sensor suite and comms package far above armor or heavy weapons.
Typical Missions
| Mission Type | Description |
|---|---|
| System Force Posting | Far from Battle-lines, military ships act as secondary law enforcement and show-of-force assets. In modern UPoS doctrine, the Prowler acts as they eyes of law and order in far systems, alerting authorities or even its carrier group to pirates, rebels or other hostile vessels. |
| Forward Scouting | Operating hundreds of light-minutes ahead of a UPN carrier group, the Prowler uses its advanced sensor suite to scan for ambushes, identify unknown contacts, and provide early warning, allowing the fleet command to make tactical decisions long before engaging. |
| SIGINT Monitoring | Running “dark” on minimal power using its Emission Damper, a Prowler will patrol a contested border (like the Serengeti Line) on long-duration missions. Its primary goal is not to be seen, but to use its advanced ESM sensors to passively gather signals intelligence, logging enemy patrol routes, ship counts, and communications. |

Additional Details
Among carrier crews, the FS-05 Prowler is often nicknamed the “Eyeball” or “Tin Can.” It is less a warship and more a collection of the galaxy’s most advanced (and expensive) sensors built around a fusion reactor and three Kobashi Shipyards engines. Pilots have a healthy fear of it; its job is to fly toward danger and rely entirely on its speed and sensors to remain undetected.
The crew of five (its minimum) operates in grueling shifts, with the two sensor technicians often considered the most vital members of the team. While the ship can technically hold 15, this is usually reserved for special operations, such as inserting a small intelligence team or carrying specialists to analyze a unique stellar phenomenon.
