Special Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Rafts | Detachable, custom containers with Life support for away teams to take a breather in. The Beleriand’s rafts are painted bright yellow for visibility in the dust clouds. |
| The “Mud Room” | A massive decentralized airlock deck featuring 20 changing stations and decontamination showers. It is the social hub of the ship, smelling perpetually of ozone, sweat, and metallic dust. |
| Gem Vault | A retrofitted section of the Cargo Hold (Room 4-B) reinforced with heavy bulkheads and biometric locks, used specifically to store high-value rare gemstones before offloading at Beaven Point. |
Crew
| Role | Name | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Captain | Frank von Hebel | caligraphist. A calm, quiet man who insists on maintaining physical paper logs in elegant script. He treats the chaos of the Gem Rush with a detached, zen-like patience that unsettles the miners. |
| First Mate | Sami Kent | enjoys fishing. He spends his off-shifts “Fishing”—sitting by the aft viewports controlling the Magnetic Dredgers to catch loose debris or salvage drifting past the ship. Spends good money for trips to worlds with physical oceans for fishing trips. |
| Engineer | Bart Jungmann | Spends more time in the “Mud Room” fixing the miners’ laser cutters and EVA suits than he does maintaining the ship’s actual engines. Highly popular with the away teams. |
| Medical Officer | Linda Jaivin | Pescetarian. Struggles with the synthesized rations. She maintains a secret, unauthorized hydroponic garden in one of the escape pod bays to grow fresh herbs and soy-protein. Somtimes goes on fishing trips with Sami during shore leave. |
| Pilot | Brian Groom | Spends lots of time with the mining crews when anchored. He is the ship’s primary source of gossip from Beaven Point and knows exactly which claims are “hot.” |
Away Team 1 “Thigh Crushers”
- Will Ashon
- Julia Blackburn
- Akiko Busch
- Zoe Deceuninck
Specialty: Heavy Extraction. Vibe: They are the “gym rats” of the ship. They operate the heaviest exosuits and handle the physical breaking of hard-rock asteroids. They are loud, competitive, and constantly daring each other to lift heavier equipment.
Away Team 2 “Nessie”
- Julia Elbenbourgh
- Nico Drios
- Sophie Elmbirne
- Gavin Francis
Specialty: Deep Core & Volatiles. Vibe: The intellectual team. They specialize in drilling deep for liquid pockets or pressurized geode chambers. They are secretive and superstitious, often claiming to see “things” moving in the dust clouds (hence the name).
Away Team 3 “Detritus’ Nemesis”
- Yolanda Entius
- John Gibney
- Ed Peppitt
- Maarten van der Schaaf
Specialty: Fine Detail & Sifting. Vibe: The cleanup crew. They follow the heavy breakers, using fine-laser tools to extract gemstones from the rubble without shattering them. They are meticulous, quiet, and generally annoyed by the mess the “Thigh Crushers” leave behind.
Away Team 4 “Day off for Atlas”
- Cees Nooteboom
- Michael Palin
- Li An Phoa
- James Rebanks
Specialty: Logistics & Safety. Vibe: The “Dads” of the operation. They set up the lights, secure the lifelines, and manage the O2 tanks. They are the most risk-averse group, often clashing with the reckless Engineer, Bart.

Operational History
Brand new, off-the-line ship. The IS Beleriand was purchased by the Lucido Miners Guild specifically to capitalize on the recent Gem Rush. She was rushed into service with minimal shakedown testing.
Typical Missions
| Mission Type | Description |
|---|---|
| The Long Dig | The Beleriand parks in the dense “Glintring” asteroid field for 3 weeks. The ship powers down non-essential systems to save fuel while the “Thigh Crushers” and “Nessie” teams strip a claim bare. |
| Refinery Taxi | When the hold is full, the ship makes the dangerous run back to Beaven Point, navigating pirate-heavy lanes to sell their ore and restock on oxygen filters. |
| Salvage Scavenge | The ship occasionally detours to investigate wreckage from the Concordia Shipyards Wreckage to strip valuable alloys. |
Story Hooks
- The Claim Jumper: While anchored at a rich asteroid, a heavily armed, unmarked vessel (likely OEG Remnants) hails the Beleriand, claiming this rock belongs to the “True Heirs of Terra” and giving Captain Groom 10 minutes to uncouple and leave.
- Fever Pitch: Away Team 2 (“Nessie”) returns from a dig with a gemstone of impossible size. Paranoia immediately sets in. The crew begins to whisper that Captain Groom plans to steal it for himself, and the players must de-escalate a potential mutiny in the Mud Room.
- The Quarantine Breach: During a return trip to Beaven Point, the Beleriand suffers a nav-computer glitch and accidentally drifts too close to the Lucido Prime exclusion zone. A UPN Query class warship intercepts them, weapons locked, believing they are smugglers attempting to land on the dead world.
